Can anyone recommend an electric tin opener that works long term? I have got through several one touch tin openers short term and they just pack up despite battery changes. I have tried the kenwood electric table top opener and that was hopeless. has anyone used anything else successfully that won't die within a few months. Thank you
Best wishes Rebecca

Do yours have a little button to press if it is not wotking properely? We found one on ours and when we pressed it it brought the opener (onetouch) back to life! YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hi Julie
I have tried pressing the button on the one touch but it still doesn't work. It's so frustrating, I only want to open a tin of tuna....

When I was a child we had the best tin opener I have ever used - it was wall-mounted & you pulled a lever down to lock the can in place then turned a handle round & the lid was held up by a magnet - the leaver was quite long & really smooth to use & sort of wound round like winding a fishing reel. Has anyone seen something like that available now?

I like the idea of a wall mounted one - my electric one (culinaire one touch) chews through batteries, and is currently sitting with a lid jammed in it and no-one can get it out. Tins of tuna are very frustrating - I haven't found a suitable one with a ring pull! Sylvia xx Be kinder than is necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

I found the handheld button operation ones didn't last long (about 6 months each) either - but I have now inherited my mum's electric kenwood one which is brilliant. Although I notice you had one that wasn't much good. Maybe the older ones are the best, as I'm sure this one must be about 8 years old. It's like this one - but without the bottle opener etc. Mine uses the mains not batteries. http://www.amazon.co.uk/...d=1362302305&sr=8-1
Maybe someone else can suggest a different make one that works. My big problem now is the ring pull ones, which I cant do at all!!! Anne

Anne, just to say I have a tool to open ring pull tins, its brill, sorry don't know what its called but its basically a handle with a curved top which just acts as a lever and does not need too much strength. Bought it from ableworld and very reasonable. Wouldn't be without it now. Zena x
